Release Manager - CI/CD

Job Summary

This person will be responsible for IT Release Management, Change Management, Infrastructure Upgrade Project Management, Major Incident Management, Environment Management, Deployment Management, Refresh Management & Information Security Compliance for Global IT Enterprise Applications in Equinix.

Responsibilities

  • Manages relationships and coordinates work between different teams across all locations. Partners with Scrum and system teams to create awareness of priority and schedule of deployment activities through environments to ensure the focus is sustained on the highest priority technical and business features.

  • Use agile methodologies to plan, coordinate, and lead deployments of major releases, weekly patches, and daily changes

  • Optimizes and improves processes and methodology and reviews with different stakeholders and impacted parties to make sure they are onboard with changes and implements those changes*
    Leads implementation of process changes and change management cycles, Testing, Deployment and Support Planning*

  • Reviews test, deployment, and support plans to ensure completeness and appropriate level of detail. Ensures plans are communicated to stakeholders effectively. Leadership of release management teams, critical escalations, and driving issues to closure Release Management

  • Defines the annual release schedule and single global release plan that includes all projects aligned to specific releases* Responsible for all aspects of release management and execution, providing leadership and guidance to the release management and stakeholder teams*

  • Conducts Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews. Leads and coordinates Go-Live activities, including execution of deployment plans and checklists.
    Proactively develops and maintains a strong knowledge of the systems related to Release Engineering and makes recommendations to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, or security of these systems as appropriate.

OS Patching Management

  • Planning and overseeing the deployment of operating system patches across the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, desktops, laptops, and other devices. This involves analyzing patch release notes and security advisories to determine the urgency and impact of each patch.

  • Maintaining accurate documentation of patching activities, including patch deployment schedules, procedures, and any issues encountered during the process. Generating reports and metrics to measure the effectiveness and compliance of the patching program.

  • Continuously evaluating and improving the patch management process by implementing automation, streamlining workflows, and adopting industry best practices. Staying informed about emerging technologies, tools, and techniques related to patch management.

Major Incident Management

  • Leveraging technology to issue all communications and providing key stakeholder management.

  • Leading, driving, facilitating, and chairing all investigation activities, meetings, and conference calls

  • Forming collaborative action plans with specific actions, roles, and deadlines, and ensuring these are completed.

  • Matrix management of people, processes and resources including third parties - including resolving conflict to move forward to resolution.

  • Providing periodic major incident metrics reports

Skills:

  • MS Office

  • JIRA, Confluence

  • ServiceNow

  • Experience in Major Incident Management, Release Management, OS Patching Management & Technical Project Management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in IT or related field

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a DevOps Engineer role

  • Minimum 2 years experience with Release Management

  • Experience using Agile/Scrum methodology

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in continuous integration and continuous deployment.

  • High-level of understanding of the software development lifecycle or process flow and analysis.

  • Should have some experience with security and DevSecOps, helping to promote security in software development and operations.

  • Understanding of automation/configuration management tools like: :

    • Amazon Web Services (Lambda, ApiGateway, IAM)

    • Docker, Serverless framework & CloudFormation

    • Jenkins pipelines & bash
