Instructional Designer III -
Job Summary:
As an Instructional Designer III you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of innovative and effective learning solutions for our engineering staff and clients. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, project managers, and stakeholders to create engaging and impactful training programs that enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Level:
Work requires little oversight and is collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze learning needs and objectives and develop comprehensive instructional strategies.
  • Design and develop interactive, multimedia-rich training materials, including e-learning modules, videos, simulations, and job aids.
  • Utilize instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to guide the development process from concept to implementation.
  • Lead the project management of instructional design initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews of training content to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and alignment with learning objectives.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in instructional design and adult learning theory.
  • Collaborate with multimedia developers, graphic designers, and other team members to produce visually appealing and engaging learning materials.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys, and feedback analysis, and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior instructional designers, fostering their professional growth and development.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE, SAM, and design thinking.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional theories.
  • Experience with e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar software.
  • Familiarity with multimedia production tools and techniques for creating interactive learning content.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, error-free instructional materials.
  • Adaptability and creativity in problem-solving, with a willingness to experiment with new ideas and approaches.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and other technology platforms for delivering and tracking training content.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing training needs, evaluating program effectiveness, and making data-driven decisions.
Education, Experience and Licensure:
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design, preferably in a corporate or consulting environment.
  • Portfolio demonstrating proficiency in developing a variety of instructional materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training, and performance support tools.
  • Experience working with engineering or technical subject matter, preferred.
  • Certification in instructional design or related field (e.g., Certified Professional in Learning and Performance, Certified Instructional Designer) desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior designers.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel to various office locations.
  • May need to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
