Overview

AmTrust Financial Services, a fast-growing commercial insurance company, has a need for a Claims Director in our Commercial Property group. This position will include aspects of team leadership and direct oversight of core Property claim team. The Director will be held accountable for driving quality, technical excellence, providing coverage acumen on Property claims, and providing leadership support to a national claims team. This position reports into the Head of Property Claims.

The Property Claims Director will work closely with all levels of claims leadership to provide direction and guidance to claim professionals. You will be responsible for driving claims performance to achieve optimal claims outcomes, superior individual and team operational results, and strategic alignment with claims department goals and objectives. Responsible for the development, coaching, mentoring, and training of the Commercial Property Claims organization, and ensures consistent, inspiring, and effective communication with claims personnel.

Responsibilities
    Lead multiple teams of Commercial Property adjusters and monitor the activities and in conjunction with their direct manager, monitor performance, as well as providing guidance, coaching, and feedback on their work quality, productivity, and customer service.
  • Provide technical oversight to emerging and/or complex claims with an emphasis on coverage and risk transfer withing the Commercial Property organization.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and appraisals for the adjusters and identify their training and development needs.
  • Participate in quality assurance audits, claim reviews, and litigation management, and provide recommendations for improvement and corrective actions.
  • Works to develop and strengthen process efficiencies within the Commercial Property organization.
  • Identify, develop, present, and/or implement training initiatives.
  • Use data and reporting to identify areas of improvement within the organization
  • Lead alignment and calibration efforts to bring about consistency in claims handling excellence.
  • Participate as a SME in projects and initiatives for Commercial Property and assist in cross departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Present authority requests or strategy recommendations to senior leadership
  • Keeps current with market trends and demands, including changes to compliance and law in all 50 states, and advise management and claim professionals regarding impact of changes.
Qualifications
  • Requires strong coverage acumen in Commercial Property claims.
  • Experience providing claim oversight and direction on commercial claims issues.
  • Experience training highly technical claims staff.
  • Proven track record of success in positively impacting claim outcomes within a claims organization.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership.
  • Embraces change, invites feedback related to performance, and deals constructively with criticism.
  • Persuades and influences people by presenting a strong case, explains things clearly, challenges ideas effectively, and argues in favor of own point of view.
  • Proven ability to work with internal and external partners to ensure positive claims experience to insureds.
  • Demonstrated drive and ambition to achieve goals and outstanding results.
  • Emotionally intelligent and self-aware.
